The engine hummed, but the whale didn’t flinch. Instead of diving into the deep, it began to circle the boat in slow, perfect arcs.
The crew gathered at the railing, mesmerized by the powerful creature. Usually, orcas are elusive, but this one seemed to be trying to get their attention.
“It’s been twenty minutes,” the captain muttered, his eyes fixed on the water. “He’s not leaving. He’s waiting for something.”
Every time the whale passed the bow, it would roll slightly to the side, as if showing them something hidden just out of sight.
