Boy Disappears After Jumping Down Banned Tunnel. Two Days Later, Police Discover What Happened

In the cramped security room, Lydia watched the monitors with her hand over her mouth. On the screen, she saw Kevin sneak past the yellow tape and vanish into the unfinished tunnel. The police froze the frame, their faces turning grim.

“That tunnel isn’t a slide yet,” the park manager whispered, his voice trembling. “It’s dry concrete, unfinished, and it leads deep into the foundation of the park. There are sections that haven’t even been capped off yet.”

Lydia’s mind raced. If there was no water to slide on, Kevin could be stuck in a bend, or worse, he could have fallen into an open construction pit. The police prevented anyone from entering the area, citing structural instability.

The officers told Lydia the most agonizing thing a mother could hear: “You need to go home and wait.” They claimed they had a lead, but as Lydia walked out of the park, she noticed the lifeguards looking at each other with expressions of pure dread.
